After School Ukulele Teacher

Organization Overview:  Music House, School of Performing Arts, has been serving Chicago Public Schools for over 60 years.  We have two studio locations in Chicago, and teach private and group lessons in studios, and group classes after and before school in CPS.  We currently provide string programming, rock band, ukulele, guitar, dance, visual art, and musical theater to students of all ages. 

Job Summary: Music House is currently seeking a ukulele teacher to serve in our before/after school Outreach Program in one (or two) of our West Loop schools, with option to expand schedule to private lessons with experience and committment.  This teacher would be responsible for maintaining engaging curriculum that is performance-based (training and materials available and provided), taking and submitting attendance, and committing to scheduled classes for the 2018-2019 school year.  Teachers will be paid as an independent contractor.  

Skills & Qualifications: 
  • Create and deliver effective instruction that engages young learners in ways that empower positive classroom management
  • Provide assessment once a month of students’ musical progress
  • Collaborate with Music House admin to provide quality performances of your class twice a year
  • Concert performances each semester 


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors in Music 
  • Excellent personable skills
  • Reliabe Transportation
  • Teaching experience preferred



  • Monday and Wednesday, 4:00-5:15 or Tuesday and Thursday 3:45-4:45 
  • Training days required for unexperienced teachers, schedule TBA



All teachers are hired as independent contractors.  Pay determined based on experience, qualifications, and expertise.
