Fall Theatre Intern

We are expanding all over Lake County and are interested in taking on interns to help with the expansion of our business and the enrichment of their theater education. Our interns will be involved in multiple aspects of the theater world: theater management, ticket sales, curriculum, class registrations, box office, corporate events, youth instruction, technical theater, marketing, and telemarketing. The skills that each intern will acquire from working with our establishment will not only improve their resume, but also give them a competitive edge in the theater community. Students currently enrolled in local universities or colleges are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications: the ideal candidates will have strong organizational skills and amazing attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills and general computer competence (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, email, internet, etc. Mac and PC experience preferred). Ability to work independently, make sound judgments, and utilize interpersonal skills to work with a variety of staff, customers, and volunteers. Also important is a passion for the theatre and arts education. Applicants will need reliable transportation to and around the Northern Chicago Suburbs.

Office Hours are Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm

Interns may have the opportunity to work on and/or sit in on weekend/evening rehearsals and classes.

Expectation of hours per week: 5-20 hours

Skills & Qualifications: 
  • Minimum one year undergraduate education or equivalent experience in arts administration, marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-starter, multi-task oriented, and computer literate
  • Experience in sales, promotions, or media desirable
  • Website maintenance and/or e-marketing skills a plus
  • Experience in community organizations or grassroots campaigns desirable
  • Willingness to mingle with audiences and accommodate visitors
  • Soft Stage Management experience and some technical theater experience
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Computer proficiency, especially in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
