Founded in 2014, Enrich Chicago is a rapidly growing collective of arts and philanthropic organizations in Chicago dedicated to creating a flourishing and sustainable arts environment that is open, equitable, and inclusive.

Enrich Chicago endeavors to advance our vision for racial equity through three key interventions aimed at advancing systemic change in the arts. These initiatives include anti-racism learning and capacity building, a funding equity research initiative, and arts administration pathways programming.

Enrich Chicago comprises two, full-time staff, a board of directors, and 23 arts and culture and philanthropic collaborators.  As a collective, we commit to a passionate, strategic, and community-centered approach to organizing that prioritizes those most impacted by systemic racism and builds on our vision for an anti-racist arts community.

Program Manager Role

Enrich Chicago is seeking an experienced arts administrator and project manager to support the overall vision and direction of our growing organization. As an aspiring anti-racist organization, we are invested in developing an anti-oppressive work environment. Enrich Chicago is guided by transforming institutional values and would expect a new program manager to share in those values.

Due to the nature of our work, all staff must have the ability and flexibility to work evening hours and weekend days. As a small organization, it is often all hands on deck with no task or project too large or too insignificant for our attention. Candidates should be excited about the prospect of being intimately involved with all aspects of program development and implementation and contributing to the development of sustainable operating systems.

The program manager will play an integral role in ensuring that Enrich continues to expand in its capacity to build on and lead anti-racism organizing in the arts. This person should possess a foundational understanding of systemic racism and a desire to continue to grow in their critical analysis. Ideal candidates should feel energized by and confident in facilitating groups of people in meetings, workshops, and retreats. Experience developing curriculum and working with youth is also an asset. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Programs (60%)

• Facilitate, participate in and coordinate anti-racist organizing work, including anti-racism workshops, affinity space gatherings, and racial identity caucuses

• Lead Arts Admin Pathways Programming at ChiArts including some guest speaker and facilitation duties; organizing internships; and engaging Enrich Partners as mentors

• Effectively develop, track, and report on programmatic data including key performance indicators, qualitative evaluations and feedback, and other measures

Operations (30%)

• Coordinate and support office administration services (reception, room bookings, cash operations, database input, office/building supply orders) as needed

• Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications plan for Enrich Chicago taking the lead on the creation and administration of a monthly organizational newsletter, social media accounts, and maintenance of organizational mailing lists and directories

• Support a wide range of public and member inquiries about Enrich Chicago, referring to appropriate contacts when necessary

• Attend and provide administrative support for quarterly board meetings

Strategy (10%)

• Participate in defining and supporting the ongoing strategic direction of Enrich Chicago

• Foster effective teamwork between co-workers, Enrich Chicago members, and community participants, with strategies to create innovative opportunities for collaboration

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, salaried (exempt) position. The salary for this role is $45,000- $48,000 annually. Enrich Chicago offers health insurance, 31 paid days off per year, and a flexible work environment.

 

Requirements
Skills & Qualifications: 

Priority Skills and Experience

• Prior experience in the arts or arts administration required

• A high level of competency facilitating workshops, trainings, meetings, retreats, and other collective processes. Must be able to discuss race, class, gender, and other issues of power and identity with ease and comfort.

• Experience developing and designing innovative and engaging curriculum

• Organizational skills, in particular time management and project management

• Experience and competency working with communities of color

• Experience with volunteer and intern management/coordination

 

Desired Skills and Experience

• Community organizing experience

• Strong communication skills, including:

◦written communication skills (ability to communicate complex points concisely and clearly; ability to create thorough and engaging reports and resources; ability to respond fully, clearly, and reliably to email), and

◦verbal communication skills (ability to speak confidently and clearly about our work, ability to communicate respectfully and directly with co-workers and clients, ability to navigate tense or challenging interpersonal dynamics in a way that aims for resolution and de-escalation)

• Experience doing popular education and/or democratic decision-making experience

• Creative problem-solving skills

• Business management skills (operations, marketing, etc.)

• Digital communications and social media skills

• Networking and relationship building skills

• Fluency in one or more languages other than English

• Attention to detail, complemented by the ability to see the big picture

Hiring Process and Timeline

Interviews: Qualified candidates will be interviewed during the weeks of September 10th and September 17th. Final candidates will be interviewed by a hiring committee and asked to submit work samples and engage in a facilitation of a mock ensemble building exercise/group workshop.
